In this course, delivered through a digital learning environment, you’ll learn all about the naming of trees and shrubs, as well as how to know and recognise different species, both in summer and in winter. You’ll also explore the various propagation methods used in the tree nursery sector.

You will gain insight into the international system of plant nomenclature, including how names are structured using a genus name, species name, and, where applicable, a variety or cultivar name. You’ll also learn the meanings behind Latin plant names. In addition, the course teaches you how to recognise different trees and shrubs based on a wide range of identifying features in both summer and winter.
