For green professionals who want to become true tree experts and master the full range of tree species.

In this course, you’ll learn everything about the naming of trees and shrubs, how to identify and distinguish various species in both summer and winter, and the propagation methods commonly used in tree nurseries.

You’ll gain insight into the international system behind the nomenclature of trees and shrubs, including how names are composed of a genus, species, and – where applicable – variety and cultivar names. You’ll also learn the meaning behind Latin plant names. In addition, the course teaches you how to recognise different trees and shrubs based on a range of identifying characteristics, in both summer and winter conditions.

You will also explore the principles of generative and vegetative propagation, understand the differences between these methods, and how and why they are applied in nursery practice. Techniques such as sowing, taking cuttings, grafting, and budding will all be covered.
